LAGOON

Waiting List for the Lagoon:

  • The Property Manager of NLYC will maintain the Waiting List and will retain all copies of the necessary forms.
  • Requests to be placed on the Waiting List must be in writing, using the Waiting List Request Form, available from the NLYC Property Manager.
  • Any NLYC members may be on the Waiting List, if they fill out the proper form.
  • NLYC members may request more than one space at a time.
  • When a space becomes available, the Property Manager will offer it to the top person on the Waiting List. If that person declines the space at that time, he/she must complete the Lagoon Space Refusal Form, indicating whether they wish to remain on the list or be removed from the list.
  • The Property Manager will continue to offer the space to the next person in line, until someone accepts the space.
  • If someone refuses the space but wishes to remain on the list, they remain in the same position as before on the list. If they ask to be removed permanently, those on the list below them move up.
  • The person who accepts the lagoon space must meet the requirements listed below.

Requirements for Lagoon Users:

  • When offered a spot in the lagoon, the person claiming the spot must be a Regular NLYC member in good standing, and the user must be a direct family member or a sponsored member.
  • The user of the lagoon spot must be an owner, skipper, or first crew on the boat housed there. The person who accepts the spot must be responsible for the necessary fees relating to the usage.
  • The boat housed in the lagoon spot must be a sailing boat of a class sailed at NLYC, and the boat must be involved in at least 50% of the races of a major series.
  • If a person has held a lagoon spot for at least one year, that person may ‘sublet’ that spot for a maximum of one year to the next eligible person on the Waiting List. The Request must be in writing, with a reason given. The original person who holds the spot is responsible for all fees during the ‘sublet’. Under no circumstances will this period of ‘subletting’ be extended past one year. If the ‘sublet’ is for one year, the person who used the spot for one year maintains his current Waiting List eligibility.
  • All boats/trailers to be removed from NLYC by October 15th.

DRY SAILING

There usually is not a Waiting List for Dry Sailing. However, in the event that all the Dry Sailing spaces are full in a season, the following rules will apply.

Waiting List for Dry Sail Space:

  • The Property Manager of NLYC will maintain the Waiting List and will retain all copies of the necessary forms.
  • Requests to be placed on the Waiting List must be in writing, using the Waiting List Request Form, available from the NLYC Property Manager.
  • Any NLYC members may be on the Waiting List, if they fill out the proper form.
  • NLYC members may request more than one space at a time.
  • When a space becomes available, the Property Manager will offer it to the top person on the Waiting List. If that person declines the space at that time, he/she must complete the Dry Sailing Space Refusal Form, indicating whether they wish to remain on the list or be removed from the list.
  • The Property Manager will continue to offer the space to the next person in line, until someone accepts the space.
  • If someone refuses the space but wishes to remain on the list, they remain in the same position as before on the list. If they ask to be removed permanently, those on the list below them move up.
  • The person who accepts the dry sailing space must meet the requirements listed below.

Requirements for Dry Sailing Users:

  • When offered a spot in the dry sail area, the person claiming the spot must be a Regular NLYC member in good standing, and the user must be a direct family member or a sponsored member.
  • The user of the dry sail spot must be an owner, skipper, or first crew on the boat housed there. The person who accepts the spot must be responsible for the necessary fees relating to the usage.
  • The boat housed in the dry sail spot must be a sailing boat of a class sailed at NLYC, and the boat must be involved in at least 50% of the races of a major series.
  • If a person has held a dry sail spot for at least one year, that person may ‘sublet’ that spot for a maximum of one year to the next eligible person on the Waiting List.

A person who has his name on the Dry Sail Waiting List, or has a spot in the Dry Sail area does NOT automatically have his name on the Lagoon Space Waiting List. These are two distinct lists, and the NLYC member must register separately for each list.

If interpretation of this procedure is required, the Board of Directors will review and decide.
